Treading the silk route...

The silk operations of Pataka were aimed at reviving another dying industry of Bengal and since 1994 East End Silks (P) Ltd has become India’s most modernised and largest silk industry catapulting Indian silks to the world. Today the world’s finest spun silk yarn is produced from the factory in Malda with over 220 Italian and French machines with stateof-the-art technology.

The company holds several accolades from India and Italy. Spun silk is different from traditional reeled silk as it is derived from waste cocoons. Clientele include Hermes, Gucci, Falconeri, Loro Piana and many large fashion houses of Europe. Again, the industry was begun with a heavily inclined social purpose and is now beginning new chapters of environmental sustainability and ecosystems.
