    Pataka’s philanthropy through its holding family and current leader Mustak Hossain has been focussed on the spheres of education and health. Over the years the charitable works have been brought under an umbrella programme that is aimed at developing charity for sustainability. This involves education programmes for minor and underdeveloped regions, women, and skill development. It also involves health programmes for reaching out regions where health service and infrastructure is ill equipped.
Education milestones
  • Supports 50 schools through infrastructure support in development of buildings, library and equipment.
  • Scholarships and fee support extended to over 40,000 students every year. Including hundreds of students who are fully sponsored.
  • For every worker (over 150,000) with daughter in education “total sponsorship” is provided from Class 5 onwards and with son in education showing merit scholarship is provided Class 8 onwards.
  • No discrimination of class, religion or caste is made but efforts are aimed at underdeveloped districts and regions of Bengal.
  • Over the last 10 years over US$ 50 million spent on education through above programmes (leaving aside non-regular donations and grants)
  • An education revolution in Bengal was started and continues for rural and minor communities, for which Mr. Mustak Hossain has received several accolades and books dedicated to his works.
Health milestones
  • Every year 2-3 medical camps are held to cover the home district aimed at taking healthcare services to the rural interiors consisting of outdoor patient service, eye check-up and surgeries, paediatric, gynaecology and other specialties with each health camp covering up 5000 patients free of cost.
  • Medical treatment is extended to all workers and employees on free of charge and subsidised basis with Health support amounting to over US$ 1 million a year.
Other Programmes
  • During COVID over 10,000 free vaccines were rolled out without government aid or funds. Every working family and villages surrounding area of operations were provided food regularly without any charge (over 250,000 households)
  • During national emergency and calamities for the past 20 years aid in the form of food and shelter have been extended without external funds but assisting all participating bodies of government and NGOs.
  • Special Endowment for Elderly and Widows are provided every year to hundreds of thousands of rural people who do not have any other forms of income.
  • Festive and winter garments are provided to over 200,000 individuals each year.
  • Ambulance, road, water and electrification support is extended to villages across Bengal directly and across northern India through network affiliates and government bodies.
